Music Field Trip
2nd Grade Field Experience Announcement
Who: ALL Second Graders, The 2nd Grade Teachers, Para, and Music Teacher (Mrs. Dean)
What: “Music Explorers Concert
A concert specially created with 2nd graders in mind, coordinated by Carnegie Hall and their staff at DU. This concert will include performances with 3 performers that the students have been learning about over the last few weeks.
Where: The Newman Performance Center at Denver University
When: May 4th, 2023
Students will be gone approximately 9:00-11:30
How: Students will be taking a bus to and from the Newman center. No extra transport will be needed. This field trip was entirely free thanks to the Musical Explorers program.
Why: Students will be able to critique expressive musical elements presented by others, communicate how expressive qualities of music are used specifically in Xicanx Funk, Gullah and HipHop music, compare and contrast musical styles, and discuss how different styles of music have helped shape American culture and are important to our music cultural landscape. (These are all Colorado State Standards)
What do students need to bring:
A packed lunch on that day
Respectful Audience Behavior
Southmoor spiritwear or colors (Green and Purple)
