Vol. 33 Kinder Newsletter

Dear Kindergarten Families, April 27, 2023

We are excited for the One Campus Celebration this afternoon which begins at 3:30. We are having our normal dismissal at 3:10.

For homework this week, please…

  1. Play Fill It to Five on pages 177-179, turning in page 179.
  2. Heart Word routine, with emphasis on writing them

Save the Date: We will have our Kindergarten Bridging on our last day of school, Thursday, June 1, at 9:00-9:45. We hope you will be able to join us, and grandparents and siblings are welcome.

We appreciate the tissues. If you can please help us with a few more boxes, we would appreciate it so much! Lots of nose blowing right now.

We have finished our nonfiction writing, and we are working on opinion writing. We continue to use our same writer’s checklist of capitalization, writing the sounds you hear, writing heart words, putting spaces between words, and ending punctuation. It’s fun to learn what we like and do not like.

Assessments in Kindergarten are one on one interviews, except for the Istation which is done on the computer. We are assessing our end of kindergarten literacy skills. Grade level is determined by Istation, easy CBM assessments, reading the first 25 Heart Words, reading texts at levels 6 and higher, and writing about books (nonfiction).

Math assessments cover skills on the third trimester checklist such as counting, counting on, fluency within 5, story problems within 10, and writing 1-20 correctly.

Thanks,

Kinder Team
