4th Grade Weekly Update! 04/28

And April is a wrap! Here's our highlight reel:

Literacy This week in literacy we launched one of our final 4th grade projects, Expert Projects! Expert projects are a chance for students to research a topic of interest. After researching, students will demonstrate their expertise with two writing samples and a creative artifact. During the final week of school, we will have an expo where they can share their writing and artifacts with family and friends. More details on the expo will be coming soon. Attached to today's newsletter is a copy of the project description and writing rubrics. Please talk to your student about their project and get familiar with their work.

Math 4th graders have been hustling this week and working on assessment after assessment. Our Unit 6 assessment is five pages long and quite a doozy so it has taken several sessions to work through. I am hoping to get these back to kiddos with scores sometime next week. As usual, their reflection doc and assessment will come home with them for you to peruse. Students have also been working on their Spring Easy CBM. More than anything, I am super proud of the efforts they are putting in to show their thinking, what they known and have learned, and using multiple strategies to check their work. We've got a boatload of really tenacious 4th graders!!
