This week we began to investigate the major historical waves of immigration through the present day. They explore a variety of sources to gather evidence of push and pull factors that contributed to these waves of immigration, as well as the impacts of each wave. Then, students will synthesize evidence from immigration stories to illustrate common ways that immigrants have shaped the United States.

In phonics we have been working on spellings that end in -le such as tackle, little or freckle. We also learned new sound alike words principal and principle. We will be having our next spelling test in two weeks. I will send the words out on digital deets next week.

This week we practiced our 11 and 12 multiplication facts along with two-step story problems while learning all about PEMDAS. Everyone is starting to get their times table memorized so any extra practice at home would be great for them! I also wanted to let families know that I will be out on Monday May 1st and Tuesday May 2nd. They will be practicing their multiplication table some more and building a fraction craft on those two days. We will also be doing our last Star Math on Wednesday next week!

I am always happy to send home any extra practice with students who want that, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Have a great weekend!
