Classroom Update (2/24/19)
Hello all!
I hope you’ve all had a restful and warm weekend. Here is a quick update of lessons and learning happening within our classroom next week:
Reading – Our reading unit connects with poetry this week. Students will identify figurative language while exploring metaphors, similes and theme. We will also continue practicing fluency when reading to ourselves or out loud.
Writing – This week, we’re exploring figurative language (metaphors/similes) and onomatopoeia. We will continue writing poetry, but include more figurative language!
Math – We will complete our measurement unit, take our pre-assessment, and spend some time practicing subtraction. We will also learn two new measurement games!
Word Work – This week, we’re learning the suffix ed. We will learn that a the suffix changes base words to past tense and learn the three pronunciations of ed.
Conference Preparation – Throughout the week, we will organize our portfolios, set personal goals, and practice student-led conferences. If you have not yet signed up for a conference, please follow the link to complete registration.
