Weekly update
Hello Families,
I cannot believe we only have a few short weeks together! I love the family that we have become, as a class, and will truly miss this group!
class placements
We have been diligently working to set up great classes and mixes of students for next year, thinking deeply about the needs, both academic and emotional, of each and every child and how they would and have mixed in the past. I take this very seriously and want to make sure placements are the best they can be.
tie-dye field day shirts
I am sure most of you remember from last year, that the upper grades each do a tie-dyed t-shirt with their class colors for field day. It is a tradition and this year will be the same. Jen has graciously organized the materials and ordered the t-shirts and colors, we just need for you to pay the $5 for the shirts in MySchoolBucks or send in the cash. Also, as always, if you can donate, any extra is appreciated for scholarships! If you want to send in extra, cash or check will work. I will also need a few volunteers to help with the tie-dye in a couple weeks and to take the shirts home to wash, dry and return. I’ll be in touch about that later, when I have a date.
night of the notables
The kids are so into their work on their notable. Most have finished their report, speech and are making beautiful presentation boards. I cannot wait for you to see them. They excitement is huge around this project. They are constantly asking to work on it! Don’t forget the Tuesday after Memorial Day at 5:30! Come and see the wax museum come alive!!
field trip tomorrow!!
Tomorrow we head to the Plains Conservation Center as another culminating work for our study of Colorado History! Please know it is outside and exposed. Please help your child to chose appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather! Also maybe mud!!! We had many students who didn’t dress warmly enough for the fall field trip and were miserable. (No socks, open shoes, no jackets). Please, please help to make them comfortable tomorrow. It is a great field trip but they will not get much out of it if they are suffering. Also know that if your child needs warm gear, we have a resource room to meet those needs. I can help them in the morning.
Colorado History Boxes
We have been so fortunate to have six history boxes from the Colorado History Museum! Several amazing parents were able to volunteer last week and will again this week to facilitate your child’s experience with artifacts from Colorado history. Last week they were able to examine and excavate items from Cliff Dwellers, Miners, and Mountain Men! Thank you to the volunteers; Tarah Buckner, Vanessa and Michael Bismuth, Kate Tull, Meegan Levy!
hugs,
jess
