Last Weekly Announcements of the Year!
Hello all!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! I have lots of important information for the final week of school! Please check your child’s backpack later this week for the last report card of the year. Again, I really spend time writing about how your child is doing in the class and appreciate you reading it with them and discussing their strengths and areas of growth.
TALENT SHOW – Our annual Izzi B Talent Show will take place on Wednesday, 5/29 starting at 1:40pm in the cafeteria. Many students will participate in our “busking” walkway to the show. I would recommend arriving at 1:15 to walk through the hallways and see all of the talent! A few of our own classroom students will be featured!
PJ Day: 2nd grade did a great job fundraising for the Fun Run and the kids won a PJ day. Students can wear pajamas and bring a stuffy to school to celebrate on Wednesday!
FIELD DAY – Field Day is next Thursday, May 30th!! Opening Ceremony will take place at 8:30AM on the outdoor stage. Everyone is invited. Events for Kindergarten-2nd grade will take place from 8:45-10:45. 2nd Grade Lunch will begin at 12:15pm.
Please remind your child to wear close-toed shoes, sunscreen, hats etc. They are welcome to wear swimsuits UNDER their clothes, but not a swim suit alone (with the exception of ECE for splash day). Please remind them to bring a water bottle (labeled with their name). There will be water fill stations throughout the course to fill up, but there will not be cups this year. ***TIE DYE T-SHIRTS WILL BE HANDED OUT ON THURSDAY MORNING BEFORE FIELD DAY!***
LAST DAY INFORMATION – Our last day of school is a half day on Friday: There’s no Discovery Link, and no hot lunch. I will be surprising the students with a slideshow of photos from the year at 11:10pm. Families are welcome to join! We will dismiss at 11:30am. Buses run on a half-day schedule, leaving at 11:40.
ARTS WEEK ACTIVITIES – Our classroom will participate in ARTS WEEK with various activities throughout the week. Here is a preview of what they will do:
- Clyfford Still Museum Exhibit (in class!)
- Choir Performance
- Author Visit in Library
- 4th Grade “Night of Noteables” in our pod
- Insect Crafts
- Drums Alive
- Art Project Outside
CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES – Our classroom will publish our persuasive writing essays and taking a copy home. Sorry we ran out of time for our final opinion writing celebration! We will also be preparing the classroom for summer! If you have any big boxes that you aren’t using, I would love them this week as I move all my belongings to my new 4th grade classroom!
Writing/math camp: There are still spots available for both weeks (June 10/June 17th) for your child to get more practice with writing and math before going into 3rd grade. Please let me know if you’re still interested in signing up!
Hope to see you before the year wraps up!
