4th Grade Newsletter

Hello All,

It was great to see so many of you at Student-Led Conferences last week! If you were unable to attend, please have your student share their conference slides with you at home. 4th Grade has completed all of their CMAS testing, and we are proud of how hard they all worked during those days!

Colorado Wax Museum- Students have been hard at work on their Colorado Wax Museum Biography project during our Science and Social Studies time. Our Colorado History Museum presentation will be next Thursday, May 4th from 1:30-2:15 pm. Students will be sharing their biographies during this time as a wax figure. All students will wear a costume that represents their character. We have discussed with students that finding a costume should not cause stress, and just wearing or bringing a nicer outfit (collared shirt, skirt/dress, etc) for the day would be perfect! We are hoping to do the Wax Museum outside as long as the weather permits.

Math Homework - Next week will be the last week of the Monday- Thursday math homework. Students are still expected to complete their weekly 45 minutes of Ready Math and independent reading. You are welcome to continue to encourage your child to complete nightly math work on their own. A few resources are: K5 Learning, and CommonCoreSheets

Writing- Students have worked hard on mastering the different types of writing this year in fourth grade: opinion, expository, compare/contrast, and narrative. We hope you all enjoyed seeing their favorite writing piece at student-led conferences! Last week, we finished reviewing and writing short responses using the RACER format. We are currently working on writing an opinion writing piece on tiny homes with an emphasis on handwriting.

Next Friday, May 5th will be a First Friday with NO school for students.
