Hello Fifth Grade Families,

We’ve had another great week! Thank you for sharing all your wonderful recipes and food, and attending Student Let Conferences last night. It was a huge success. Below you will find some announcements and will learn what we have been working on this week!

Announcements:

*Balarat Form and Money: Due on Wednesday, May 3rd

We will provide more information as the field trip date nears.

Literacy: EL Modules: Module 3: Promises to Keep (How Jackie Robinson Changed America)

• “Newspaper” Opinion Writing based on our study of Jackie Robinson.
• Language: verbs/adverbs, commas, context clues
• Spelling: Compound words, sentences, and narrative story
• Istation practice

Next Week:

• Final Istation Literacy Assessment on Monday, May 1st!
• Ordering books from the $500 grant we received.
• Mural painting on Tuesday! Be sure to drive by Asbury and Marion to see the progress!
• Starting our final literacy unit!

Math: This Week

• Continued our learning about Hierarchy of triangles and quadrilaterals
• Create art only using triangles and quadrilaterals.
• Fractions review

Science: This Week - Amplify Curriculum - Modeling Matter

• Unit Question: What happens when two substances are mixed together?
• Chapter 3 Question: Why can salad-dressing ingredients separate again after being mixed?
