Buildings
Dear Wonderful Parents,
Unit of Inquiry:
Our buildings unit is off to a great start! We started things off by having a gallery walk in our room of pictures of many different looking types of buildings. We were able to sit together and discuss what we already know about buildings and what we noticed about the pictures in our gallery walk.
Moving forward we will have an overview of our 5 essential questions.
- Where are buildings located
- What are they made with
- Who are they made for
- Who are they made by
- What are systems inside buildings
After our overview, we will dive into the questions individually. Next week we will learn all about Where buildings are located and what they look like in our neighborhood as well as in other places.

Writing:
In addition to our writing objectives (character bodies, colors, setting and label/writing), our story prompt for writing will be the The Three Little Pigs. We will also learn retelling of a story with a beginning middle and ending. We will work on our retelling skills both verbally and in our writing work. We will also have the opportunity to read several different versions of this story and practice our comparing and contrasting skills.
Reading:
We finished James and the Giant Peach last week and our next chapter book is George’s Marvelous Medicine by Roald Dahl. We started it today and it was already hard for us to put it down!
As always, feel free to come to me with ideas, questions or concerns.
In Joy,
Bergen
