Classroom Update (3/4/19)
Hello all!
After sitting through two days of conferences, I want to share how proud I am of all the incredible learning our students have done over the last trimester. It was really wonderful to connect one on one with families and students to share successes! Here is a quick update of the learning we will do in the class for the rest of this week:
Math – We will continue practicing subtraction strategies in small group settings. We will also introduce our new unit about money, subtraction, and addition within 1000!
Writing – We will learn more about metaphors and introduce alliteration. We will continue to write poetry inspired by all of the poetic devices we’ve learned so far! During word work, we will learn about common contractions in the English language and introduce the suffix - ING.
Reading – We will continue to focus on pitch, pace, and tone when reading out loud. We will read more poetry while contrasting different poetry types.
READER’S THEATER THURSDAY – Our class will be performing our READER’S THEATER plays for our peers in Meg and Lauren’s classrooms. PLEASE make sure that your student DOES NOT MISS THURSDAY THIS WEEK! The more students present, the easier it will be for the plays to run smoothly.
Izzi B Auction – Included with this post is a request for donations to fill auction baskets for 2nd grade. Please take a look at the attachment and donate if you are willing and able! The arrows on the paper indicate items that still need to be donated.
Thanks!
