Hello all!

Tie Dye experience is not needed :)! The total cost per t-shirt is $5. The charge should already be on your myschoolbucks account. You can pay online, with cash, or provide a check to IBCS.
LETTUCE HARVEST FROM THE GARDEN – On the same day (Friday, May 24th), our grade level will harvest lettuce from our school garden. We need volunteers for this super fun activity. Please be on the lookout for a sign up genius coming out soon! Gardening experience is not needed! We will show you how to do everything!
Here is a snapshot of the lessons being taught this week:
Writing – This week, we will begin our final essay by writing to our 3rd grade teachers. The prompt for the essay is “Why should your 3rd grade teacher be excited to have you in their class next year?” We will plan out our essays this week by thinking of our behaviors through the lens of our Dragon and classroom dispositions (Brave, Collaborative, Caring, Respectful, Self-Manager, and Tenacious.) We will plan the essay and start drafting.
Reading – This week, we will continue to examine opinion articles. We will discuss how the author formats, plans, and executes their articles. We will continue reading our article about E-Sports then switch to an opinion article about elephant races in India.
Math – This week, we will continue practicing multiple subtraction strategies along with introducing time. We will learn how the clock is related to hours and minutes of the day.
Science – Last week, we learned that water is a source of erosion. We completed an experiment that showed water can carve into the land like a canyon. This week, students compare multiple solutions for preventing erosion. In the activity, they design and test ways to keep water from washing away a hill modeled out of cornmeal.
