Found Sound Workshop tomorrow

Hello all!

The Playground Ensemble is coming back to Izzi B for our classes Found Sound Workshop tomorrow! Please help your child find something that makes a fun sound and send it with him/her to school tomorrow.  Some ideas are:

Plastic

• water bottle - strike with fingers or tool, squeeze empty bottle to force air through drinking spout, fill with beads, dried rice, beans or seeds to shake
• spatula - use as striking tool
• mixing bowls - strike with fingers or tool, put beans or rice inside and swirl
• straw - blow through or over end like a flute
• toys - depending on toy, squeeze, strike, move, etc...
• empty beverage bottle - blow across opening like a flute, strike
• empty vitamin bottle - fill with beads, dried rice, beans or seeds to shake

Metal

• mixing bowls - strike with fingers or tool, scrape, put beans or rice inside and swirl
• pots/pans  - strike with fingers or tool, scrape, put beans or rice inside and swirl
• spoons - use as striking tool
• wrenches - use as striking tool, can also be struck themselves with another metal striking tool

Wood/paper

• spoons - use as striking tool
• salad bowls - strike with fingers or tool, put beans or rice inside and swirl
• cardboard box - strike with fingers or tool (lightly), scrape with fingernails or tool, snap with rubber bands
• paper - crumple, rip, snap with rubber bands
• cutting board -  strike with fingers or tool
