Update from Hamilton

Update from Hamilton

Hello Husky Families,

I hope you are well and healthy. I want to share an update with you on this Sunday, as I know you’re likely hearing a lot through DPS and the news.

First, as you may have heard, DPS has decided we will start our school year through remote learning. We will begin with remote instruction with students on Monday, August 24, a week later than originally planned. This is to give schools more time to plan as a staff. DPS is monitoring health conditions and will determine if we can move to an in-person model after September 8. I know how hard that is for all of us, as we really want to see our students in person. However, health and district leaders have decided this is in the best interest of everyone’s safety. We are working hard to build the very best learning and support model possible for our Huskies with this information. Our Huskies must continue in their learning and social-emotional growth!

With this in mind, I have been working with Hamilton’s school leadership team to develop plans for remote learning, safety and health planning, and launching our school year. We have also spent quality time engaging with the DPS Black Excellence Resolution and examining how we can be an anti-racist school, dedicated to equity and culturally responsive education, throughout the pandemic-required learning models.

In the coming week, I will be announcing our plans for Hamilton’s virtual registration process. I will also announce family information and question/answer sessions with me, for you to come learn about what I know, based on my trainings. We have more trainings this week on virtual learning programs and master schedule design. I will also be updating and sharing information on other topics, such as our 6th grade Academy, for incoming 6th graders.

These times are very challenging for all families and educators, as we all want to get back to the work we value most— providing an excellent education for our students and caring for them. I pledge to everything in my power and skillset to support each Hamilton family and educator throughout this time. We are stronger together as a community. Please know I am thinking of all of you!

Sincerely,

Christian
