Hi Everyone!
Finally the weather has gotten a little warmer! Phew! It was so great to see so many of you at conferences and all your children did such a great job sharing their learning this year. I am really proud of each and every one of them. Also, thank you so much for purchasing books to add to our classroom library from the scholastic book fair!
Lauren is out:
March is a crazy time with my schedule, and unfortunately, workshops have been moved due to the strike. I am attending another conference on Thursday and Friday so I will not be at school. We will have the same sub we had this past week and the students seemed to really like her so that’s great news!
Auction this Friday!
Thank you to the many parents who are spending so much time and energy putting together this auction. I will be there dressed in 80s and I hope to see many of you there. It is really a fun time and it supports me, the classroom, and most importantly, the kids! Please come if you can!
Literacy:
We are continuing our study of poetry. We just learned the word onomatopoeia and alliteration. Students are doing a great job creating their own creative poems using the new skills they are learning. They are also learning how we read poetry using line breaks and stanzas.
Math:
Our current math unit continues work with place value and addition/subtraction. The new concept is money. This is a great concept to work on at home. Any real life experience with coins and understanding the value of each coin will help! I am also working with students on telling time.
Have a great week!
Lauren
